If you haven’t heard yet, you will hear more and more talk about “The sons of God” or the teaching of Sonship. So who are the sons of God?
The book of Galatians say’s the term Huios=mature-son does not refer to gender, for the sons of God are neither male nor female (Gal3:26-28) but simply refers to the Christian ie- to them that received him gave he the power to become the teknon=child-son of God(John 1:12 KJV).The purpose of the Christian life is to move grow from teknon=child to huios=mature.

So if you’ve never heard of the subject of Sonship or never completely understood this marvelous topic then make sure to check out my website http://www.facebook.com/thesonsofgod

IMPORTANT

In order to teach the Bible it is vitally important to first build a Biblical foundation on the subject before you can speak of the deeper truths. This is the substance of the words of the prophet.”Precept upon precept, line upon line, here a little, there a little…”

For example when you build a house, the project has to be built in layers. First the foundations. Secondly the skeletal structure of the walls. Finally the roof is built on top to finish the framework. Of course these three stages can all be built at the same time however, when it comes to erecting the house there is a process of layering that has to be followed to ensure a successful end. The same formula holds true when grounding the word of God into the hearts of God’s people.

So before I can even begin talking about sonship it would be prudent to first discuss some foundational concepts. In no particular order let’s begin with Church History.

Your understanding of the purposes of God will be greatly enhanced if you have a brief comprehension of Church History. A basic knowledge of Church History will show you that God’s plans are bigger than you, your church, your denomination, your beliefs and even your own concept of God. I am speaking from experience. This is a good realization to come to because the day you’ve figured out God, is the day no one else can speak to you because you think you already know everything.

One thing Church History reveals is that the revelation of God’s purposes for the church has been progressive. What does this mean?

It means that over the last five centuries the face of Christianity has evolved and changed several times. This evolution can be compared to the maturing of a young child into a fully grown man.

Practical Application:
Go online or check out your local library and look up Church History. Look past denominational bias, doctrinal emphasis and you will discover a progressive understanding of God. Martin Luther didn’t have all the answers. Neither did John Calvin, John Wesley, William Booth and so on, but every one of these dear saints contributed to the progressive restoration of truth to which we all have access today.
